IN WORK

Role: Partner – Charity Accountant & Not-for-Profit Audit Specialist

Melissa became a Partner in 2023, leading a diverse portfolio of clients with a particular focus on the not‑for‑profit sector. With extensive experience in general practice across numerous industries—including start‑ups, charities, and social enterprises—she brings a depth of knowledge that supports organisations of all sizes across Worcestershire and the midlands.

Beginning her career in 2011 as an AAT apprentice, Melissa qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2016. She joined The Richards Sandy Partnership in 2017 as a Client Manager, progressing to Associate in 2019. Her journey reflects a commitment to professional excellence and an ability to lead with insight and integrity.

Alongside supporting self-assessment clients and limited companies, Melissa specialises in charity accounting, charity audits, and independent examinations. She advises a wide range of community interest companies (CICs) and charities from a variety of sectors including education, homelessness, welfare and advisory, heritage organisations, clubs and many other not‑for‑profit entities. Her client base spans from small charities and companies to large organisations requiring statutory audit. Melissa is known for delivering clear, authoritative guidance on compliance, charity governance, and not-for-profit financial strategy.

As part of the firm’s dedicated not‑for‑profit team, Melissa ensures clients receive focused, Partner-led support. She takes time to understand each organisation’s context, using data‑driven tools to provide efficient audits, minimise disruption and offer practical recommendations that strengthen systems and controls.
